The Division of Student Affairs invites you to attend the Common Read/Common World trip to the Equal Justice Initiative (EJI) Museum and Memorial in Montgomery, AL on Saturday, April 6, 2019.

The EJI Museum is located on the site of a former warehouse where black people were enslaved in Montgomery, Alabama. This narrative museum features interactive media, videography and exhibits that immerses visitors in the sights and sounds of the domestic slave trade, racial terrorism, the Jim Crow South, and the world's largest prison system.

The Memorial focuses on the more than 4400 African American men, women, and children who were hung, burned alive, shot, drowned, and beaten to death between 1877 and 1950. This memorial acknowledges the victims of racial terror lynching.

We will be departing at 8 AM from the Student Center and returning at 6:30 PM. There is no cost for this trip but space is limited. We are reserving 40 slots for individuals to sign up. This will be on a first come, first serve basis. It is open to USA students, faculty, and staff.
